TMS Stein's Backup (Pro) is a simple-to-use backup program for Microsoft Windows operating systems designed to backup files based on directory structure.
Once configured it allows selective backups to be performed easily on all or on a subset of pre-configured sections.
Day-to-day backups can be performed safely and easily even by less experienced users.
The configuration is menu driven and up to 100 section, can be grouped and described under a free number of headers and four tabs.
The program distinguishes between an "Admin" and an "User" mode.
Only when run in the password protected "Admin" mode access to configuration sections will be granted.
Thus single sections can be reversed with a click turning them from backup to restore and visa versa.
When run in "User" mode all backups can be performed but no configuration changes can be made.
The program can also be configured to run in the special "No mode" mode.
In this mode it will not have any configuration restrictions and would basically alwazs run in "Admin" mode.
This suits a single (power) user setup were the securing of the configuration settings is not required.
The program utilises the 'Microsoft Robust File Copy Utility' (Robocopy) as the core copying module providing secure and robust copying and mirroring functionality.
TMS Stein's Backup (Pro) also provides the advanced 'combo backup' feature which combines two subsequent backup sections to one allowing two backup actions to always be performed in sequence.
The backup progress is always written to screen as well as to the log file which can be reviewed easily from within the program.
The program can be downloaded and tested for free.
A free evaluation licence is being activated on first installation allowing for unrestricted testing of its functionality - no registration required.
Various licence options exist including extended evaluation licences.
Details are published on-line.
